《魚像 Fish Portraits》2021

在我們默言的腦海裡，攝影通常是一種在資本主義消費市場內製造吸睛視覺影像的活動。這種活動很大程度上形塑消費者行為，影響至私密的日常生活都為購買和製作各類型美麗影像而進行，從而建立「自我」的概念。

一張相片可以述説的似乎有限，傳達被攝者的第一視覺印象；

但一張相片可以改變的並無界限，每一次觀看都能夠影響我們對被攝者的看法。

這裡展示了一系列自拍照和人像照，後者是攝影師邀請被攝者一起吃飯聊天，了解過他們的個人小故事和價值觀才進行拍攝。儘管如此，我們仍然會受好奇心驅使，希望知道相片背後被攝者的「真實故事」，嘗試確定被攝者的「真實性」。

這些相片跟他們的真實生活有何不同？在每一天的生活裡，我們會想如何向他人展現自己？什麼是真實？什麼是吸引人的？在這個充斥美麗影像的現代社會，我們要如何自處和生存？

除了自拍照和人像照，我為每位被攝者製作了一張「他們心目中的善良是什麼」的照片。

到最後，我們都同意，我們會對其他人，和這個世界，保持心中的和善。

In our silent heads under capitalism, photography is mostly the making of impressive visual imageries in consumer markets. It shapes consumers behaviour to the extent that all aspects of private daily lives adapt for the purchase and production of beautiful imageries, in order to establish the concept of “self”.

What a photo can say may seem limited, giving a first visual impression of the subject;

nevertheless what a photo can change is boundless, affecting our perception of the subject at each sight.

Selfies and photographer-taken portraits are both presented here, in which the latter were taken after lunch conversations with the subjects, understanding their personal stories and values. Still, we may poke into a search for the “real story” behind these presentable portraits, trying to confirm “the authenticity” of the subjects. Even the subjects themselves, have to choose their “real self” among these options.

What is the difference between these selfies, portraits and their real lives? How do we want to present ourselves to the others in everyday life? What is real? What is attractive? How do we survive in the modern world of numerous attractive imageries?

Besides selfies and portraits, a photo of what “kindness“ means to each subject is created.

At the end of the day, we agree that we will stay kind to the others and the world.
